Getting your pet used to pet hotels or Boarding kennels

Any break of contact between pet and career can be hard. We share our lives with them daily often for years, so it is no wonder that the separation can be arduous and stressful on both parties. In order to melt the ice we have made this page to help you and your pet.

Before you travel if you need to use a pet carrier for the journey here is an exercise that might be helpful.

Most of the time pets see the carrier and the thin oh no its the V E T, and scarper.
Practice in a non stressful way to get the pet relaxed with the carrier. On the day of departure for the pet, if the cat or dog does resist your efforts to install them in the carrier/box, then the best thing to do it back off and wait a little while.

If you stress the creature out it will resist even more and be terrified. So some early planning factoring in your pet, can make all your travel plans some what less tiring.

It is a good idea to accustom your pet to longer kennel stays by first boarding them during short trips, such as long weekends.  This will help them get familiar with the staff and surroundings. Also it helps them get used to the fact that you will return.

This allows you to iron out any problems before long-term stays. It is also less stressful on you and the animal. Once the animal gets used to the sight sounds and smells of Kosy Kennels Wexford they will be more relaxed during their stay and on their return home.
